The Opportunity

StartProto is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical problem-solving, manufacturing workflows, AI-driven automation, and customer collaboration.

You will work hands-on with customers from pre-sale through long-term adoption, helping them implement StartProto across their shop, integrate their existing systems, migrate data, and configure workflows optimized for real-world production environments.

This role blends implementation engineering, systems integration, data modeling, and customer-facing consulting. You will serve as the trusted technical partner to shop owners, operators, and engineers adopting StartProto's platform—ensuring they see value quickly and consistently.

Because we are a small, high-ownership team, you will directly influence product direction, customer success playbooks, and integration strategy.

What You'll Do

Customer Implementations & Technical Guidance

  • Lead customers through onboarding: data migration, system configuration, workflow modeling, and technical validation
  • Scope, design, and implement custom integrations between StartProto and customer systems (ERP, MES, QA tools, CNC systems, scheduling tools, etc.)
  • Translate complex manufacturing processes into StartProto workflows and AI-agentic actions
  • Diagnose technical issues across data, APIs, and integrations; resolve problems in collaboration with engineering

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales to provide technical expertise during the sales cycle: discovery, demos, proof-of-concept builds, and edge-case evaluation
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap decisions based on real-world manufacturing requirements
  • Collaborate with Customer Success to accelerate value realization and ensure successful long-term adoption

Technical Enablement & Documentation

  • Develop internal playbooks for implementations, data pipelines, and system configurations
  • Create customer-facing guides, best practices, and technical resources to improve onboarding speed and reliability
  • Contribute to tooling and frameworks that streamline deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, Integrations Engineer, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Python, REST APIs, and scripting for integrations or automation
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with operational or production data
  • Experience with ERP, MES, CRM, or manufacturing-related systems—or deep exposure to complex business workflows
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot integrations across cloud services and third-party platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to lead customers through technical onboarding and solution design

Preferred

  • Experience with manufacturing, CNC workflows, scheduling systems, or industrial automation
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB), event-driven systems, or streaming data architectures
  • Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Exposure to AI/LLM-driven workflows, agentic systems, or automation frameworks
  • Comfort developing customer-facing documentation, training materials, or technical best practices
